Real-life examples of use

Motorbike riders vandalized a driver's car with a hammer.

In 2023, in Tower Hamlets, two motorbike riders vandalized a driver's car with a hammer. Fortunately, the victim managed to capture photos of the criminals. Approximately 30 minutes later, the same suspects carried out similar attacks on other citizens in the area, causing stress and property damage. To date, the suspects have not been found.

In this incident, the first victim could inform other Shield users in the area about the event (as an alert) with photos of the suspects and their motorcycles, automatically alerting other people about potential danger and prompting caution. Moreover, all users would be able to send additional information if they recognize the criminals and their location directly in the Shield's specific alert as an update. It is very likely that the criminals would be found quickly, but most importantly, additional attacks could be prevented.

12-year-old girl fatally stabbed in Liverpool.

In 2022, a tragic incident unfolded in Liverpool where an innocent 12-year-old girl was fatally stabbed. Following the incident, the police released CCTV footage of the criminal on social media and various websites, leading to his arrest a week later. Unfortunately, during this period, the same suspect committed additional crimes.

In a scenario like this, Shield's platform could have played a crucial role by releasing the CCTV footage with a description to Shield's users as a request for information-notification in the local area. This could have led to a faster arrest of the suspect, potentially preventing additional crimes.
